Elevated levels of Lipoprotein (a) may increase an individuals risk of atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, heart attack, peripheral heart disease, blood clot or stroke. Since Lp(a) is a genetic condition, if one individual has a high level of Lp(a) then the family should be checked as well. Diet and exercise seems to play little to no impact on the Lp(a) level in your body..
