Hemoglobin Solubility
The Hemoglobin Solubility test is used to help identify the presence of Hemoglobin S only ( an inherited variant of normal hemoglobin). This test may also be referred to as a Sickle Cell Test.
The test may also detect sickling hemoglobins, and may be used to evaluate hemolytic anemia.
This test result will show as either positive or negative for the presence of Hemoglobin S.
For a quantitative result and to measure additional types of Hemoglobin, the Hemoglobin Electrophoresis test should be considered.
Test results may take 2-4 business days.
