SARS-CoV-2 Antibody (IgG), Spike, Semi-Quantitative
This test may be used to detect an immune response to a prior or recent infection with SARS-CoV-2, or may indicate antibodies to a spike-targeted vaccine. Your body produces antibodies as part of your immune response after exposure to the virus or vaccination. The test provides a numerical value that indicates whether or not you may have antibodies to COVID-19. This test should not be used to determine the level of immunity you have. Patient service centers are collecting samples in accordance to the health and safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.) To get tested you must:
- Complete the eligibilty screening questionnaire
- Be asymptomatic for at least 10 days prior to testing
- Not have a fever (will be confirmed by non-contact thermometer)
- Wear a face mask during visit to patient service center
- Schedule an appointment prior to visiting the laboratory
This test has been authorized by the FDA under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for use by authorized laboratories. Negative results do not rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection, particularly in those who have been in contact with the virus. Follow-up testing with a molecular diagnostic should be considered to rule out infection in these individuals. Positive results may be due to past or present infection with non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strains, such as coronavirus HKU1, NL63, OC43, or 229E. Results from antibody testing should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude SARS-CoV-2 infection or to inform infection status.
After you receive your results, you will have an opportunity to have a telehealth consult with an independent licensed physician or other licenced healthcare provider from PWNHealth, who can answer any questions you may have about your test results and help determine next steps.
It usually takes at least 10 days after symptom onset for IgG antibodies to reach detectable levels.
Test results may take 5-7 business days once the laboratory has received the specimen.
