Insulin testing may be used to assist in identifying Insulin resistance, determining the cause of hypoglycemia in an individual with signs and symptoms of low blood sugar, determine when a type 2 diabetic may need to start insulin treatment and may also be used to determine if an individual has an insulinoma. The Insulin blood test may be used in conjunction with the C-Peptide blood test especially when wanting to determine how much insulin is made by the body vs how much is being entered into the body from outside sources ( i.e Insulin injections).
