The Hemoglobin Solubility test is used to help identify the presence of Hemoglobin S. The test may also detect sickling hemoglobins, and evaluate hemolytic anemia. Hgb Solubility testing is typically done on newborns, however, it may be suggested when an individual presents with signs or symptoms from the disease.

Certain signs and symptoms may be pain in bones, joints, lungs and stomach, anemia, specifically hemolytic anemia, increase number of infections especially those in the lungs, as well as chronic cough, chest pain and fever.

2. Visit a Lab

After purchasing your testing you will receive an email with your lab requisition.  Bring this form to the laboratory.

NOTE: Be sure to visit the appropriate laboratory!

If you choose Quest Diagnostics only visit a Quest location!

3. Get Results
