This test is used to screen for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trich.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommend annual chlamydia and gonorrhea screening for:

  • All sexually active women under age 25
  • Women 25 and older who have a new sex partner or who have multiple sex partners.

The CDC also recommends chlamydia and gonorrhea screening at least once a year for:

  • All sexually active gay and bisexual men, and other men who have sex with men.

For pregnant women, the CDC recommends chlamydia and gonorrhea screening:

  • In the first trimester for all women
  • Again in the third trimester for women under 25 or at higher risk of infection.
