HIV Blood Test
The escalation of the spread of HIV comes from infected women passing the disease to her unborn child at birth, sharing contaminated needles, breast milk from an infected woman and unprotected sexual contact. The Centers for Disease Control believe that approximatively 1.2 million people in the United States are infected with disease, and that 25% of them do not know they are infected.
Recent Exposure STD Testing
Do not delay testing if you believe you have been exposed to an STD. If the exposure was even as few as 28 days ago, you can take a recent exposure STD test to verify a possible infection. Fast results through the recent exposure STD test will give you comfort and help you make the best choices for your health.
Hepatitis B Blood Test
Hepatitis B, a contagious disease, has a range of symptoms from a weak illness lasting little over a month to a far more difficult illness lasting a lifetime. The disease can be spread through sexual activity with an infected person or sharing syringes with an infected person.
Herpes Simplex Virus (I.II, IgG) Blood Test
Genital herpes, a venereal disease, is caused by two kinds of herpes simplex virus (HSV). Oral herpes is also caused by the first strain, herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1). Herpes simplex virus 1 was once known to only cause oral herpes (also known as “cold sores” or “fever blisters”) but it has recently become known that it also causes genital herpes among sexually active young people. Herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2) is the more common cause of genital herpes. Regardless of the strain, herpes simplex virus is passed along by contact with the bodily fluids and sores of a carrier of the virus.
Syphilis – Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR) Blood Test
A round of treatment of antibiotics can prevent the worst damage of syphilis, including fatal effects like irreparable brain damage. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease spread through various sexual means, including intercourse with an infected person. Its symptoms are varied and not easy to discern from other illnesses.
Hepatitis C Blood Test
Though hepatitis C is not asymptomatic for every infected person, it can be easy to miss early detection and thus early treatment. Those that do not get early treatment may face damage to their liver, including complete liver failure. It is thought that about 200 million people in the world have this condition which is commonly spread through bodily fluids.
Chlamydia Test
The most commonly reported bacterial STD in the United States is chlamydia, an asymptomatic illness. Most people will not know they have until a test is administered. The risk of infection is higher among those with a greater number of sexual partners. It can be passed through various types of sexual interaction, including oral, anal and vaginal sex.
Gonorrhea Test
A bacteria growing in the tracts and the cavities of the body (especially the reproductive tract), gonorrhea presents a serious risk to those who carry it. Its hosts often do not display warning signs that they have the disease, and so as many as 10% of men and 50% of women are at risk for the serious complications stemming from an out of control infection of gonorrhea.
Our Health Testing Centers have nurses who are available to counsel you over the phone and assist you in establishing what STD testing services you require. Because there are so many different tests to consider, our nurses will ask questions and guide you in deciding what is best for your personal situation. The nursing staff will be available to you again once your testing is completed to help you understand the test results and provide options about any treatment you may require. Talking to our nurses at either before or after testing often brings you comfort and peace of mind.
We strive for complete patient confidentiality and privacy, which it not always available if you go to a free clinic or doctor for STD testing. We ensure that your results remain confidential and are not made part of your permanent health record as they would if you went to a clinic or local doctor. Some of our patients even chose to come to us anonymously and use an alias at our Centers. This is completely fine with us. If you go to a doctor or a clinic, they will often require you to have a physical exam as part of your STD testing process. We do not require that when you test with our Health Testing Centers. We utilize laboratories that offer a wide variety of testing services, so you don’t have to worry that somebody is going to guess what kind of test you are there for. We know waiting for test results can be difficult, so we have a quick turnaround and you can expect your results within two or three days.
