HIV Blood Test

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus is most commonly transmitted from human to human through the following actions: sex without protection, infected breast milk, contaminated needles, milk from a nursing mother who is infected and an infected woman to her unborn child at birth. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) suggests that just over a million Americans are infected and that 25% have not yet been tested and learned of their infection.

Recent Exposure STD Testing

If for whatever reason you think you may have been exposed to an STD, it is important to get testing right away. Recent exposure STD testing will be able to tell quickly if you have infection, even if it has only been as few as 28 days since the infection. This rapid examination through recent exposure STD testing is critical in getting the medical assistant to heal and comfort you.

Hepatitis B Blood Test

Those with Hepatitis B may endure a light illness only lasting a matter of weeks or a far more serious illness that stays with them their whole life. This disease is contagious and is usually spread from an infected person via sexual intercourse or the sharing of used syringes and needles.

Herpes Simplex Virus (I.II, IgG) Blood Test

An STD, genital herpes is caused by two strains of the herpes simplex virus. Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) usually causes oral herpes (a disease of the lips and mouth also called “cold sores” or “fever blisters”); recently, however, it has begun to cause genital herpes, conspicuously among sexually active young people. Even so, herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2) is the most common source of genital herpes. The herpes simplex virus is contracted via contact with infected sores or bodily fluids.

Syphilis – Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR) Blood Test

If left untreated, syphilis can lead to serious damage to the heart and brain and finally death of the infected person. It is a sexually transmitted disease that, like other diseases of its kind, is passed from person to person via sexual contact. This sexual contact includes oral, anal and vaginal sex. While its symptoms are not always immediately clear and discernible from other diseases, it is a treatable illness.

Hepatitis C Blood Test

Hepatitis C is known to show few, if any, obvious symptoms in its sufferers. It is, however, responsible for damage to the liver, but this can be prevented with proper early treatment. At least 200 million people have this disease, which is transmitted through exchanges of bodily fluids among individuals.

Chlamydia Test

Although chlamydia is the most widely reported bacterial STD infection in the United States, it commonly shows no symptoms. Most people will only learn of their infected status after an STD test. This disease is spread through a number of sexual actions like vaginal, oral and anal sex. The more sexual partners an person has, the higher chance they have of getting infected with chlamydia.

Gonorrhea Test

It can be difficult to detect a gonorrhea infection, since it is often asymptomatic in men (10%) and especially in women (50%). The bacteria, which lives in many parts of the body (including the reproductive tract, anus, eyes, mouth, urethra, and throat), can cause alarming problems in both women and men if it is left undetected and thus untreated.
