HIV Blood Test
The transmission of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV),
frequently occurs from the use of dirty needles, unprotected sexual activity, breast
milk, and an infected woman passing it to her unborn child. The CDC has said that
about 1.2 million people in the United States have the virus and that a quarter
of them do not know they are affected by the virus.
Recent Exposure STD Testing
Early detection of STD exposure is possible if you think you
may have been exposed to a STD. Get a recent exposure STD test which can give results
even if the exposure occurred as few as 28 days ago. These results will give you
the comfort you need and direct you to the medical attention you may require for
treatment.
Hepatitis B Blood Test
Typically spread through sharing use needles or through sexual
contact, Hepatitis B is a contagious disease with many possible side effects. These
effects range from a light illness lasting for about a month to an enduring lifelong
illness that is much more severe.
Herpes Simplex Virus (I.II, IgG) Blood
Test
Genital herpes, an STD, is the result of an infection by one
of two strains of the herpes simplex virus. Herpes simplex virus 1, typically the
cause of oral herpes (in which cold sores or fever blisters infect the lips and
mouth), has begun to cause genital herpes in sexually active youth. Herpes simplex
virus 2 is the usual culprit of genital herpes. In both cases herpes simplex virus
is spread through direct contact with the sores and bodily fluids of an infected
individual.
Syphilis – Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR)
Blood Test
Known to be spread through oral, vaginal and anal sex, syphilis
is a common STD. It has a wide range of symptoms that are not easy to isolate from
other diseases. Its devastating effects on major organs in the body are not recoverable
and can lead to death. However, it is thankfully treatable with penicillin and other
antibiotics.
Hepatitis C Blood Test
A disease that is spread through the exchange of bodily fluids,
hepatitis C frequently shows no obvious symptoms. When the disease is not detected,
it may lead to serious liver problems and finally, liver failure. It is believed
that about 200 million people globally have this infection.
Chlamydia Test
The sexually transmitted disease known as chlamydia commonly
does not have any obvious symptoms. It can go undetected until an STD test discovers
it. This disease is generally passed through sexual contact and is in fact the most
commonly reported bacterial STD infection in America. The risk of chlamydia is higher
the more sexual partners a person has.
Gonorrhea Test
Gonorrhea is a bacteria that grows primarily (but not exclusively)
in the reproductive tract and urethra of its host. It often goes untreated, as many
of its hosts (10% of men and 50% of women) fail to show any symptoms. Gonorrhea
can cause serious problems in both women and men if it is allowed to grow uninhibited.
There are several different STD tests available and by talking to one of our nurses
on the phone, you can determine what test is best for you to take. The nurses will
ask you questions and provide counsel appropriate for your specific situation. Determining
what STD test or tests you need is only the first step in the process. Once you
receive your test results, our nurses will counsel you further on what the results
mean and what treatments you should undertake.
At our Health Testing Centers, your privacy is a priority to us. We even allow
you to test under an assumed name if that makes you more comfortable. We also allow
privacy with your test results as they are only sent to you and not put on your
permanent health record. You will not get the kind of privacy from a local clinic
or doctor’s office. These places will also have you take a physical examination
as part of your testing process. We do not put you through this. Your privacy continues
as you go to one of our lab locations. We choose labs that perform a multitude of
testing, so others cannot guess what kind of test you are there to take. After you
have taken your test, you can expect a quick turnaround time and should get the
results in a matter of days.
