HIV Blood Test
The transmission of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), frequently occurs from the use of dirty needles, unprotected sexual activity, breast milk, and an infected woman passing it to her unborn child. The CDC has said that about 1.2 million people in the United States have the virus and that a quarter of them do not know they are affected by the virus.
Recent Exposure STD Testing
Early detection of STD exposure is possible if you think you may have been exposed to a STD. Get a recent exposure STD test which can give results even if the exposure occurred as few as 28 days ago. These results will give you the comfort you need and direct you to the medical attention you may require for treatment.
Hepatitis B Blood Test
Typically spread through sharing use needles or through sexual contact, Hepatitis B is a contagious disease with many possible side effects. These effects range from a light illness lasting for about a month to an enduring lifelong illness that is much more severe.
Herpes Simplex Virus (I.II, IgG) Blood Test
Genital herpes, an STD, is the result of an infection by one of two strains of the herpes simplex virus. Herpes simplex virus 1, typically the cause of oral herpes (in which cold sores or fever blisters infect the lips and mouth), has begun to cause genital herpes in sexually active youth. Herpes simplex virus 2 is the usual culprit of genital herpes. In both cases herpes simplex virus is spread through direct contact with the sores and bodily fluids of an infected individual.
Syphilis – Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR) Blood Test
Known to be spread through oral, vaginal and anal sex, syphilis is a common STD. It has a wide range of symptoms that are not easy to isolate from other diseases. Its devastating effects on major organs in the body are not recoverable and can lead to death. However, it is thankfully treatable with penicillin and other antibiotics.
Hepatitis C Blood Test
A disease that is spread through the exchange of bodily fluids, hepatitis C frequently shows no obvious symptoms. When the disease is not detected, it may lead to serious liver problems and finally, liver failure. It is believed that about 200 million people globally have this infection.
Chlamydia Test
The sexually transmitted disease known as chlamydia commonly does not have any obvious symptoms. It can go undetected until an STD test discovers it. This disease is generally passed through sexual contact and is in fact the most commonly reported bacterial STD infection in America. The risk of chlamydia is higher the more sexual partners a person has.
Gonorrhea Test
Gonorrhea is a bacteria that grows primarily (but not exclusively) in the reproductive tract and urethra of its host. It often goes untreated, as many of its hosts (10% of men and 50% of women) fail to show any symptoms. Gonorrhea can cause serious problems in both women and men if it is allowed to grow uninhibited.
Are you seeking peace of mind about a possible STD? Call our nurses to find out what STD testing services we have available. They will ask questions as they listen to you and learn about your situation. They will help you determine what STD test or combination of tests you should take. After your testing is complete, they are there again for you to explain your test results and counsel you on what treatment options are available.
If you go to a free clinic or local doctor for STD testing, they will put your test results into your permanent medical record. However, if you choose one of our Health Testing Centers, we are able to keep your results private. In fact, we even allow you to use an alias when coming in for testing. The only way anyone will find out about your test results is if you tell them yourself. Another thing about clinics is that they will most likely give you a physical exam as part of your STD testing. We do not require this at our centers. When you go to the lab to take your test, people should not be able to guess the reason for our visit since our labs provide a variety of testing services. We realize that waiting for test results can cause anxiety. Because of this, we provide quick results within two to three days.
