Individual STD Tests available in Austin, TX:
HIV Blood Test
Human Immunodeficiency Virus, known as HIV commonly, is usually transmitted between individuals by used needles, unprotected sexual activity, a woman with the infection passing it to her unborn child and from an infected woman nursing her child. The CDC has found that roughly 1.2 million Americans have the infection and that probably a quarter of them are still in the dark about their status.
Recent Exposure STD Testing
Testing is available if you are worried about a possible STD exposure. A recent exposure STD test is available to offer answers, even if the exposure was as few as 28 days ago. These results from the recent exposure STD test will offer peace of mind as you get the medical treatment you need.
Hepatitis B Blood Test
Hepatitis B, a contagious disease, has effects that range from a severe lifelong illness to a milder version that lasts only a matter of weeks. This disease is most commonly spread through the use of contaminated and used needles or through sexual contact with someone who is already infected.
Herpes Simplex Virus (I.II, IgG) Blood Test
Historically herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) has only caused oral herpes, an infection of the mouth and lips colloquially called “cold sores” or “fever blisters,” but recently it has begun giving sexually active young people genital herpes, an STD. Herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2) is the more traditional cause of genital herpes. Both strains can cause genital herpes, and in both cases are transmitted by exposure to the sores and bodily fluids of an infected person.
Syphilis – Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR) Blood Test
Though its symptoms frequently are not distinguishable from other illness, syphilis is disease with the potential for irreparable harm. It is spread through oral, anal and vaginal sex. It can cause permanent damage to the brain, eyes, heart, nerves, bones and other tissues of the body. It is in fact treatable with antibiotics.
Hepatitis C Blood Test
Across the globe, it is reported that about 200 million people are infected with hepatitis C, a disease transferred via bodily fluids. Many people may not even know they are infected as it frequently shows no symptoms. When left untreated, it can complicate processes of the liver and ultimately lead to a shut down of the liver.
Chlamydia Test
Chlamydia, the most reported bacterial STD infection in the United States, is transmitted sexually through vaginal, anal or oral sex. The risk of chlamydia in a sexually active person rises with more sexual partners. Frequently, chlamydia is only detected through testing as infected people often show no symptoms.
Gonorrhea Test
Gonorrhea is a bacteria which grows within the reproductive tract, anus, urethra, throat, mouth, and eyes of its host. As so many of its carriers show no symptoms – as many as 10% of all males and 50% of all females – this bacteria is often left to grow unimpeded. If this happens, the host can suffer serious side-effects.
Call us if you need help deciding what STD testing services you may need. Our nurses are there to counsel with you and help you through this anxious time. The nurses will listen to all your concerns and will ask the right questions to figure out exactly what testing you require. Deciding what STD test or tests you need is not the only thing our nurses do. They are there for you after you receive your test results to help explain them to you. They will also provide information about any treatment you may need.
There are several reasons why choosing our Health Testing Center is better than having your testing performed by a free clinic or doctor’s office. We allow you complete privacy and anonymity. Several of our patients even choose to have their testing done under an alias. When you go to a clinic or doctor’s office there is no anonymity. In fact, your test results aren’t even confidential, but become a part of your permanent health record. Another reason we are better than a clinic or doctor’s office is we don’t require a physical examination as part of the STD testing process. You will most likely be subject to a physical at these other locations. Testing is also done discretely at labs that provide multiple testing services. This means when you enter our lab locations, no one will know the reason you are there. Once your testing is complete, you don’t have to wait forever to know the results. In most cases, you will receive the test results in two to three days.
