Latex Allergy Test

This latex allergy blood test screens for the iGe antibodies associated with an allergic reaction or a hypersensitivity to natural rubber latex.  This allergy can manifest itself in a range of different reactions from a delayed skin rash to a severe life threatening anaphylactic reaction. 

Health care providers and industrial rubber workers are particularly susceptible to this type of allergy due to high levels of exposure to rubber latex.  In general it is estimated that the percentage of people affected by latex allergies is between 1% and 8% of the general population, with many never experiencing an noticeable reaction.
