Human T-lymphotropic Virus I, II (HTLV-I, HTLV-II), Antibodies

The Human T-lymphotropic virus Types I and II are RNA retroviruses that cause T-cell leukemia and T-cell lymphoma and are linked to other disorders, including demyelinating diseases which affect the central nervous system. These viruses can lead to a persons immune system attacking itself making the body vulnerable to other infections. The human T-lymphotropicviruses are spread through exchange of blood and certain bodily fluids, including sexual contact and shared needle usage. HTLV-III, also known as HIV, is a related virus that causes AIDS.
