Hemoglobin A1c Blood Test Explained
The Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) blood test used in the management of diabetes measuring the control of blood glucose levels over a 6 to 12 week period. The Hemoglobin A1c level for a healthy adult is generally less than 5.9%. Diabetic adults should have treatment goals for Hemoglobin A1c levels below 7%. Following is a sample of the results of the Hemoglobin A1c blood test. The reference interval indicates the normal ranges and the flag indicates a result outside of those ranges.
