Chlamydia & Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NAA) (Urine Test)

Chlamydia is an extremely common STD caused by the bacterium, Chlamydia trachomatis.  Chlamydia can be spread through vaginal, anal, or oral sex.   The disease is the most commonly reported STD in the U.S. with 75% of women and 50% of men with the disease not even being aware of the infection because they exhibit no signs or symptoms.  When the do occur symptoms of Chlamydia are generally mild.  However, serious damage including infertility can develop if it goes undetected.  

Gonorrhea is an STD, caused by the bacterium neisseria gonorrhoeae.  Gonorrhea thrives in warm and moist regions such as the uterus or urethra as well as potentially the anus, mouth, throat, and even eyes.  If the disease also goes untreated it can also cause serous problems.  

Fortunately both chlamydia and gonorrhea are easily identifiable with STD testing and easily treatable with common antibiotics such as azithromycin.   STD testing for both chlamydia and gonorrhea is performed using a single urine sample.
