Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Antibodies, IgG

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a very common disease that is related to the herpes virus. The CDC estimates that greater than 50% of people in the US had the infection by the time they reach 40 years old. CMV symptoms are typically similar to mononucleosis ("mono"), including muscle aches, fatigue, fever, headache, and potentially and enlarged liver and spleen. Symptoms of CMV vary depending upon the health and age of the person infected. CMV is mainly a concern for adults or children who have a weakened immune system, possibly due to disease (such as HIV), organ transplant or drug treatment.
