Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) blood test measures for a protein associated with certain kinds of cancers, especially colon and rectal cancer.  High levels of CEA are also found with a variety of other cancers including pancreatic, gastric, lung, ovary, and breast.  Following is a sample of the results of the CEA blood test based on whether the individual is a smoker or nonsmoker. The reference interval indicates the normal ranges and the flag indicates a result outside of those ranges.
